6 November-No School for Students: Teacher Work Day

Well, we're working through October and getting used to the 'cold'. Thanks for sending in great jackets, hand covers, and hats this past week. Remember to dress for the weather on Thursday for our walking field trip.

Our class just surpassed completion of over 5,000 math questions on IXL. Congratulations, and many of the students are showing mastery in the skills they're working on. Please explore the new, but extra-time links if there's time. The numbered activities under the starred (extra) links are essential for Reading, Math, and Spelling progress. Thanks for your patience in using this type of forum for homework. During parent conferencs we'll review the progress of these tools for your student.

Reading the little books each night at home is essential. We have certain benchmarks for 'staying' ON level for first grade throughout the year, in order to be fully ready for 2nd grade and beyond. Meeting these standards are important for your child as you address the "NEED TO READ" every evening. I am sending home a prompt sheet for you to read and use during the read to mom/dad time in the evening.

Have a great week, and once again, thank you for all your support. See a few of you at the Study Trip on Thursday!
