Parent News
We're well on our way and working toward smooth transitions and improved 'protocal' for center rotation, completing our morning work and small, guided reading daily with all those little books being sent home to read. We've had our first spelling assessment and all the students are improving in their 'phonemic awareness' when reading and working with words during spelling and writing activities.
Our class is a growing and changing mini-community with 19 different learners who have become friends, learned to work together, help each other, play, eat and learn in our classroom.
Thanks to those parents who have assisted their child in using this web-site to locate their homework tasks. Students should be visiting all the links throughout the week and completing the assignments as listed, as new assignments are posted weekly. Progress in the following
We'll go to the computer lab for the required orientation, and log-in with a lengthy Username (elizabeth.petty.class) and Password (1234Q!wer) for the first time. We've been practicing this at a center this week, and we're hoping for our weekly time in the lab to be constructive. Thank you to Mrs. Littleton for volunteering as an assistant every Thursday in the 1st floor lab! As you can see, with the school account and homework links' usernames and passwords, your child will become the 'master' of their own UN and PWs. We will also begin to use the COWs in our own homeroom at school. This acronym stands for Computers on Wheels!
Practice this at home: Username: elizabeth.petty.class
Password: 1234!Qwer

All the other volunteers: I'll be sending out more information this week via e-mail!
Almost everyone has logged into most of the homework sights on our class blog . (Click on this link). I will soon add a math site for the required links. Required links include: RAZ-kids reading, Sight Words w/Samson, Spelling City, and our soon-to-be math sight. Please pay close attention to the weekly assignment and do not exceed the expectations as these are weekly assignments.
Here's little slide show of our spelling/name activities this week:
